Welcome to the Political Pagan
Hello. I am a professor of World History in upstate New York, USA, and author of numerous articles on modern Pagan religious movements such as Asatru and Romuva as well as a book, "Modern Paganism in World Cultures: Comparative Perspectives" (2005). I have decided to start this blog to provide a public venting space for my thoughts on two of my great passions: Politics and Paganism. (Note: I see "Paganism" as a serious religion and so capitalize the name to show respect for it, as is done with other religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Shinto, etc.) In some cases, my blog entries will deal just with Politics or just with Paganism, but other entries will involve commentaries on political matters from a Pagan point of view, and also the reverse, political commentaries on Pagan matters. I hope to stimulate discussion of both politics and Paganism, as well as their points of intersection. I look forward to responses from those who share my interests and concerns.
